Let's take a quick look at the function of intercoolers: The compression heats up the charge air, which is not optimal for the engine as a whole. Why? Quite simply: The hotter the air gets, the lower its oxygen density. In other words, cold air contains more oxygen, which in turn is needed for the combustion processes in the engine. The Seat intercooler therefore lowers the air temperature considerably and thus ensures that the oxygen supply is as high as possible. The combustion processes are thus optimised, while at the same time fuel consumption is reduced and the engine is protected.
