Lefty leaders’ moronic appeal for ‘cooperation’ with the butchers of Beijing

Progressives have officially given up on human rights: On Wednesday, a coalition of 48 lefty groups wrote the White House and Congress saying that climate change matters more than genocide and freedom.

Some of the outfits, such as the Sunrise Movement, focus on the climate, but others (CODEPINK, MoveOn) used to claim to care about lots of other issues.

But they’ve all united to demand the US government drop its supposed “dominant antagonistic approach” to China to somehow win the “cooperation” of the Chinese Communist Party “to address the existential threat that is the climate crisis.”

Worse, they have the gall to claim that “racist, right-wing movements in the United States” are served by criticizing China.

Apparently, that’s reason to shut up about the roughly 2 million Uighurs, Kazakhs and other Muslim minorities held in some 260 secretly built, high-security concentration camps and other detention centers, and all the abuse there from slave labor to rape and other sexual abuse and even forcible sterilization.

And about the CCP’s take-down of democracy in Hong Kong in clear violation of Beijing’s commitments under international law — a clear sign that any promises it makes on climate change won’t be worth a dime the instant they stand in the way of China’s interests.

“Like the pandemic and so many of our most urgent crises, climate change has no nationalistic solutions,” the letter claims. Oops: Beijing’s “nationalistic” coverup of the early coronavirus outbreak helped ensure that COVID-19 would become a global pandemic.

“We must shift from competition to cooperation,” the lefties argue — oblivious to the fact that the CCP reads “cooperation” only as an opportunity to bully or steal whatever it can. Do they really think appeasement is going to make China pollute less? It will lie, cheat and ignore.

The CCP doesn’t give a damn about the planet: It cares about one thing and one thing only — itself.
